Get close with local politics to make a major change.

In addition to joining Manhattan Young Democrats, we encourage young New Yorkers to get involved with their local Democratic club.

Local clubs nominate District Leaders, State Committee Members, and County Committee members, so joining a local club builds the very base of the Democratic Party.

But isn’t the Manhattan Young Democrats my local club?
Yes – but for the youth branch. While we represent the youth arm of the democratic party, there is no reason you should also get more involved with local Democrats in your community! MYD doesn’t provide the same services as your local clubs do, so it’s important to join both to take local action that will greatly affect your community.

How do I determine my local club?

  1. Use your address to determine both your Election District and your Assembly district.
  2. Using both, you can identify what your local club options are and which District Leaders represent you. The New York County Democratic Committee also provides a comprehensive list of local political clubs in Manhattan.
  3. To find out which club is the best fit for you, you can reach out to your local elected officials and attend a few events.

Community boards are volunteer-based advisory groups that represent the general quality of life of their respective communities. Community Boards can submit plans for development, advise on land use and zoning, and various other committees – like arts, culture and education.
